Laws In Favor Of Women Facing Domestic Violence
As we are saying that we are modernizing and civilizing, still it can be seen a woman unhappy, crying and dying before death. We, Indian women have as many laws to support us in time of need. Now, it is up to us to get legal assistance and stop fearing the violence.

Section 498-A deals with the harassment done due to dowry claims. If a woman suicides due to the torture, section 306 can be charged. Section 304-B deals with the dowry deaths. The in-laws and husband can get jailed for 7 years, if the torture is proved.
Forced sex in marriage is not considered illegal in Indian law. But unnecessary sexual demands and torture is the reason for which woman can claim a divorce. When a woman is legally separated from her husband, he cannot force for having sex under any circumstances. This comes under section 376-A of Indian penal code.
Domestic violence can be prevented by executing a bond of good behavior through district magistrate. Another way to get rid of domestic violence is by keeping an asset as by the husband as deposit which can be seized if further violence is done.
These are some of the common violence and torture faced by Indian women. It is not that women are left with no options or way out when they are faced with domestic violence. Legal assistance is the only way to get rid of domestic violence. We should never allow anyone to torture and exploit us.
