Christmas Island, the name itself is a wide description of the fun and festival of the city. The territory is located in the middle of Indian Ocean surrounding it from all the sides. Perth is approximately 2,600 kilometers south east from the island. Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia is only 500 kilometers towards the north of it.

The city is emerging as a remote destination for tourists in Australia for its scenic beauties and cordial hosting of the natives. There are a few settlement areas where the natives live. Approximate population of the island is around 1,405.

The northern part of the island is populated and tourists find the place comfortable for their stay. Camping and sea sailing are the main attraction of the Christmas Island. The settlement areas are divided into four different parts called Kampong, Poon Saan, Silver City and Drumsite.

Minimal human interference and a remote geographical location of the island makes it isolated from the rest of the world. The rich flora and fauna attracts tourists to spend a few days in the heart of nature. Crime rate in this place is close to nil, hence people traveling here feels safe.

Every year, ornithologists, naturists, botanists and scientists from all over the world visit the island for their projects and research works. The government of Australia is planning to implement different plans for this place to increase tourism activities.
