Latest Trends In Higher Education

Published by Admin at 5:57 am under Education

There is recurring trend that has set in silently of late among the conscious parents of Indian youths seeking higher education. They are sent abroad mostly in UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, China and US to pursue their higher education.

Going abroad for higher study is nothing new and it has been quite common to embark upon higher education in the disciplines of Biotechnology, Engineering, Metallurgy, and other post doctoral studies.

Only promising students with consistent track record of excellence used to clear exams and step on the pavement of first world countries to make it big. But going to foreign for studying hotel management? This was not commonly heard of.

Aptitude and quality of student is no more a concern and almost anyone and everyone can study anything abroad now provided you have enough green bills to spend. Even finance is being taken care of since some of the Universities have a tie up with financial institutions and getting an education loan is now cake walk.

Management courses are the hottest selling stuff nowadays and foreign universities are welcoming students all over the globe with open arms. With glossy brochures and interviews held in hotel Taj and Marriott by prim and proper suite clad executives oozing with “corporate” flavor is now a common sight.

Nobody seems to question whether or not theses universities at all deliver what they promise, if they are actually credible enough and staffs like that. Just imagine when IIM’s are short listing the cream with best potential after their grilling tests and group discussions, any X Y Z is boarding an international flight to study management after donating twenty lakh in a third grade Australian college.

No one seems bothered to ask if this college is at all at par with ace management colleges of India. I have a neighbor who’s going to Russia to study medicine! His proud father came to meet me and told the institute is very renowned in St Petersburg and there is absolutely nothing to worry.

I went to see him off in the airport, but seeing a Russian doctor in case of a health problem? No way boss, I am still willing to go to the dilapidated chamber of my Bengali doctor Nandi babu. No big regrets.
