Bulimia β Is Curable
Eating disorders are the common psychological diseases seen in the teenagers and youngsters. The symptom for this disease is irregular and an abnormal type of eating habits. This is commonly known as the compulsive eating disorder. The person suffering from this will eat in unnatural excess amount which our body does not need. Teenagers who have stress and depression take food to de-stress themselves. This can lead to obesity which may bring hard consequences like heart attack, diabetes, stroke and other severe problems.
Another type of eating disorder is called anorexia. In this disorder, young people but mostly girls avoid taking food to loose weight and stay slim. This is a misconception that dieting and inadequate food intake can help to reduce weight. The negative effects of anorexia are retarded growth, anemia, weight loss, osteoporosis and damage to development of mental, physical and psychology.
There are some important features of bulimia:
(a) Excess eating on regular intervals or in a fixed way.
(b) Frantic behavior to avoid weight gain.
(c) Self assessment on the basis of physical appearance and weight.
(d) Consumption of laxatives or vomiting.
Too much attempt to loose that extra fat which has been gained due to eating of extra calories.
You can figure out for yourself, if you have bulimia or not, you can ask few questions to yourself. The more βyesβ, chances are more positive:
Are you suffering from obesity?
Is dieting controlling your life?
Do you have a phobia of eating in an unstoppable way?
Does a feeling of guilt, shame and depression emerge after eating?
Do you think vomiting or taking laxatives is fine to control weight? Do you follow that?
Remember that bulimia and eating disorders are curable. One needs to take help from psychiatrist. Few sessions of counseling can bring out a fruitful result. It is upon an individual what he wants to do in life.
